Nikita Dhoundial, wife of Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundial, who was martyred in a close encounter with terrorists in Pulwama, will become lieutenant and don the army uniform on May 29.
She cleared the exam of women entry scheme (SSC) in Allahabad last year.
The doon-resident Major Vibhuti, was posted with 55 RR, who lost his life in an encounter with terrorists on 17 February,2019 in Kashmir’s Pulawama.
When his coffin wrapped in tricolour, came home to Dehradun, people lined up on the streets to pay homage to the young soldier. But little had anyone thought that his widow wife, who that day saluted her husband and asked people to take inspiration from his story full of valour, would walk the talk.
Following his steps, Nikita never lost hope, somehow kept herself strong and decided to serve nation. After clearing the SSC exam at Allahabad, she went through a rigorous training at OTA, Chennai. Now, she has completed her training successfully and is all ready to join The Indian Army.
Lt Col Vikas Nautiyal stated that she will passout from the academy on 29th May.
The function will be attended by her father only as due to Covid restrictions other family members cannot join her. He also stated that she will go on a 21 days holiday to her home in Faridabad before she starts serving the nation.
